How come all of a sudden I don’t want to go to a four year school?

Joe asked:

Right now I think it’s too late to not go because I sent my deposit in. I just want to get an associates in emergency medical technology. what is the difference between an EMT and a paramedic? how do you become a paramedic after getting an associates in emergency medical technology? Should I apply to a community college that offers it? Bangor Comm. College offers a certificate in emergency medical technology but fairfield community college offers an associates. what is the difference and which is better? Should I just forget my qualms and go for a four year degree in Chemistry or Biology and then see if I want to become a paramedic?
p.s. those schools don’t have deadlines I don’t think.

4 year school gives you many more options. AA degree gives you one or two options. Just do it.

Some J.C.’s let you get an A.A. AND then transfer to the 4 year (that’s what I did, but in a diff. field). Check into that. Junior colleges are GREAT. You often get a lot more personalized attention there (especially as a freshman), since many classes at the four year schools are taught mostly by the graduate students instead of the actual professor.

Plus, I would think you could just go down to your local fire station and talk to some of the guys there. Usually they are very open to helping out the public, and they would have some great ideas.
